Notre histoire commence en 1962, lorsque la famille Vittone de Biella, désireuse de créer un refuge paisible entouré par la nature, décida d’acheter un terrain à quelques pas de la magnifique plage de Fetovaia. Guido Vittone, en particulier, tomba amoureux de ce coin de paradis lors d’une excursion avec le Club Alpin Italien.
L’année suivante, en 1963, une grande villa fut construite, divisée en quatre appartements pour accueillir les quatre frères et sœurs Vittone : Guido, Giuseppe, Nina et Luigi.
From Guesthouse to Pensione Montemerlo
In 1965, the villa began operating as a guesthouse, welcoming its first visitors in search of tranquility and relaxation. The following year, in 1966, the property was transformed into a small pensione, lovingly managed by Uncle Mario and Aunt Maria, fondly remembered to this day as « the uncles of Montemerlo. » They were the ones who named the pensione, drawing inspiration from their hometown of Montemerlo, a village located in the Euganean Hills.
In 1968, the management of the pensione was passed to Giorgio Francescato from Bordighera, the brother of Maria Francescato in Vittone. He ran the business until 1970, continuing to nurture the warm and welcoming family atmosphere that had become the hallmark of the establishment.
Le rêve de Mauro et Tomasina Palmieri
Un nouveau chapitre de notre histoire commença à la fin de l’année 1970, lorsque la famille Palmieri, représentée par les jeunes Mauro et Tomasina, acquit la propriété. Avec passion, enthousiasme et une vision claire, ils entreprirent de transformer la pension en ce que nous connaissons aujourd’hui sous le nom d’Hôtel Montemerlo.
En 1971, Mauro et Tomasina inaugurèrent leur première saison officielle en tant que gestionnaires, donnant vie à un projet qui combinait harmonieusement hospitalité, amour du territoire et une approche familiale unique. Depuis, l’Hôtel Montemerlo est devenu une destination prisée pour ceux qui recherchent une expérience authentique et relaxante sur l’île d’Elbe.
